More Power and Comfort in New Kubota F-series Front-mount Mowers

Professional-grade F2880E, F2880 and F3680 usher in new levels of performance and durability

TORRANCE, Calif., June 12,2006 Kubota Tractor Corporation (KTC) has unveiled three new F-series front-mount mowers designed for commercial and residential applications.

The F2880E, F2880 and F3680 include the highly regarded Kubota diesel engines with increased engine power, and feature more versatile, fabricated mower decks, greater operator comfort, and exceptional ease of operation and maintenance.

Tamara Youdbulis, turf product manager at KTC says, “The new F-series appeals to a broad range of customers because they offer greater horsepower, four-wheel drive traction and a vast array of implement options, making them functional year-round tractors.”

All three models feature liquid-cooled Kubota diesel engines; the two-wheel-drive F2880E and four-wheel-drive F2880 are equipped with 28 horsepower, while the four-wheel-drive F3680 engine produces 36 horsepower. Both engines are designed to produce higher torque rise to ensure faster, smoother recovery under sudden loading. The engines are environmentally friendly and economical to operate due to enhanced combustion efficiency. Plus, each model features a larger 16.1-gallon fuel tank, making stops for refueling less frequent.

Traveling speed is now 12.5 mph — up from 10.6 mph on previous models — due to a powerful hydrostatic transmission that provides quicker response for tough mowing jobs. The single-speed HST pedal enables the operator to easily change directions from forward to reverse, keeping the operator’s hands free for steering and implement control.
The F2880 and F3680 include full-time four-wheel drive mode along with Kubota’s innovative Auto-Assist four-wheel drive, which automatically engages four-wheel drive when additional traction is needed. When traction is regained, the system automatically reverts to two-wheel drive to prevent turf damage; it functions in both forward and reverse modes. To increase hillside stability and reduce ground compaction, four-wheel-drive models also feature wider Ultra-Trak tires.

Lift capacity has been increased 40 percent over previous designs, giving the F-series the versatility to handle an array of optional Kubota implements, including a grass catcher, snow blower, rotary sweeper, debris blower and front blade.

Mower options for the F2880E, F2880 and F3680 include the new Hi-PRO3, high-capacity 60-inch and 72-inch side discharge decks that can cut up to five inches in ¼-inch increments. Essentially three decks in one, the standard-cut deck is ideal for fast mowing, even through tall grass; the fine-cut mode (optional baffle kit) produces smaller clippings, leaving a more manicured finish; while the mulch-cut mode (optional kit) produces an even finer cut and sends most of the mulch back onto the turf. Kubota also offers 60-inch and 72-inch rear discharge decks, available with optional mulching kits. All mower decks feature a full 90-degree tilt-up feature, and the larger 72-inch decks include a lift-assist mechanism to simplify deck access for cleaning and maintenance.

For greater operator comfort, Kubota engineered the F-series with premium standard features, including a larger operator platform for more leg room, and a deluxe high-back suspension seat with adjustments for weight control, lumbar support, back angle and arm rests, which provides a custom fit for each operator. The high/low speed lever, deck lifting lever and PTO start/stop lever have been lengthened and ergonomically placed at the side of the seat, while tilt wheel and power steering reduces operator fatigue. To ensure greater efficiency and safety in low-light work environments, each F-series is also equipped with a halogen headlight.

The F2880E, F2880 and F3680 come with several innovative design features to reduce downtime for maintenance. Most noticeable is the quick-release, full-open designed engine hood that includes an integrated, easy-to-clean radiator screen. A dual-element air cleaner helps to keep the engine running smoothly and efficiently; only the outer filter needs to be replaced, while the inner filter can be cleaned with an air hose. The F3680 is also equipped with a choke indicator that turns red when the filter needs cleaning or replacement. Other conveniences include an electric fuel gauge and a convenient toolbox located beneath the operator’s seat.

Kubota offers several accessories and options for the F-series, such as a deluxe hard cab with heater option, cruise control, working lights and turn assist brakes.
Youdbulis concludes, “The Kubota F-series has an unbeatable combination of power, traction and versatility, resulting in exceptional performance and productivity.”
