TORRANCE, Calif. (July 16, 2004) - Kubota Tractor Corporation
(KTC) broke ground yesterday on a new warehouse and distribution facility
located in Columbus, Ohio. The addition of the new facility will enhance
Kubota's ability to meet growing production and sales demands.
The new warehouse will facilitate the need for amplified
distribution of Kubota's tractor equipment and related implements and
accessories to Kubota's Northern Division. The Northern Division provides
sales, marketing, distribution, finance, service and parts support for
Kubota dealers and customers in 15 states.
Located on 25-acres at Groveport Commerce Center, the
290,000-square-foot facility will have 20,000 square feet of office space,
and the warehouse space will have 30-foot ceiling heights. With adjacent
undeveloped land, the building can be expanded by an additional 150,000
square feet in the future. Duke Realty Corporation will begin construction
on the facility this month. The construction schedule calls for the building
to be finished by December 2004.
"We were looking for a high quality site with visibility
that was ready to be developed in accordance with our company's record
growth," said Ted Pederson, Senior Director/Northern Division Manager
for Kubota. "Duke had a well-located site available that could accommodate
our current requirements, as well as future expansion possibilities. These
factors, combined with Duke Construction's expertise and commitment to
finish the facility in just over six months, made the Groveport Commerce
Center a perfect home for Kubota's new facility," continued Pederson.
"Kubota is a fast growing company, and to ensure a flexible real
estate solution into the future, Duke designed the site to accommodate
a major expansion," said Jeff Palmquist, Vice President of Industrial
Leasing for Duke in Columbus. "The Kubota facility will be a great
addition to the Village of Groveport and Duke's Groveport Commerce Center.
The new facility will have a very attractive office exterior and site
landscaping including a fountain and waterfall feature at the main building
entrance. The building's design will benefit the entire Groveport Commerce
Center," concluded Palmquist.
"We are very excited with Kubota's decision to relocate
to the Village of Groveport," said Anthony Bales, Administrator for
the Village of Groveport. "This is further evidence of the continued
popularity and growth of the entire Rickenbacker area."
Kubota Tractor Corporation (KTC) is the United States
marketer and distributor of Kubota branded equipment including a complete
line of tractors up to 99.5 PTO horsepower, performance matched implements,
compact construction equipment, consumer lawn and garden equipment, commercial
turf products and utility vehicles. Kubota has operated in the Columbus
area since 1979 and has been located within the Foreign Trade Zone for
the past nine years.
Groveport Commerce Center is a 382-acre, 4 million-square-foot
master planned industrial park located with convenient access to Rickenbacker
International Airport. The Village of Groveport offers a 15-year, 100
percent real property tax abatement, representing a direct savings to
tenants of approximately $0.45 per square foot per year over other areas.
In addition, Kubota's facility at Groveport is part of the recently expanded
Rickenbacker Free Trade Zone.
