Theme of the 2025 Expo
In exchange for our development,
humanity has continued to place a heavy
burden on the global environment.
Having built advanced sciences capable
of altering life itself, we must humbly
acknowledge that humanity is but one
part of the ecosystem. At the same time,
we must recognize our
responsibility to
use the very science and technology we
have created to
carve out a sustainable
future, and to take action accordingly.
Against this backdrop, Expo 2025 Osaka,
Kansai is being held under the
theme
“designing future society for our lives.”
Kubota’s thoughts
At the “Future Life Expo:
Future City” pavilion,
Kubota reflected
on the past, present, and future of food
and agriculture,
aiming to explore
possibilities for creating a future of
“planetary-conscious
food and
agriculture,” where everyone can enjoy
food and live richly.
- *“Planetary-conscious” expresses a state in which a prosperous society and the sustainability of the global environment are simultaneously achieved within the “planetary boundaries,” which are the limits of the Earth.
Kubota’s challenge
toward realizing
planetary-consciousness
Realize a society with closer relationships
between people and agriculture,
people and food, and people and the Earth.
Theme of the 1970 Expo
From the late 1950s, Japan grew
rapidly wealthy through its period of
high economic growth. At the same
time, however, serious social problems
arose, such as air pollution and the
destruction of nature.
Against this backdrop, Expo 1970 in
Japan was held under the theme of
“progress and harmony for mankind.”
Kubota’s Thoughts
With its business focused on food,
water, and the environment, and with
a longstanding emphasis on harmony
with nature, Kubota participated
independently as the Kubota pavilion.
Through its architecture and exhibits,
Kubota expressed the idea of harmony
between nature and society.
