Strengths of Kubota's Business Operations Out of an infinite number of combinations of materials and technologies,
we come up with solutions that really meet our customers' needs.
Our problem-solving capability is based on our considerable experience and knowledge.

We have technologies that enable development of tough materials and process technologies that control those materials at will.
Overlaying these attributes, Kubota's greatest strength lies in the problem-solving capabilities to devise solutions that customers really need.

Choosing from an infinite number of combinations of materials and technologies,
based on our long experience, and thinking from the customer's perspective,
we can come up with the optimal solution to the specific problem at hand.
Then, the resulting product will create new values that have never before been available, even exceeding customer expectations.

Included in the foundation that supports our work are materials, technologies, experience, and our dedication to manufacturing.
These are the vital strengths that underpin Kubota's industrial materials business. Read below to learn more.

Hands-on approachthinking from the customer's perspective.

"Contributing to the global community in the areas of food, water, and the environment" is a slogan embraced by Kubota and reflected in every technology, product and service of the company. Especially in manufacturing, we adhere to a user-oriented, hands-on approach to devise solutions from the perspective of those who actually use our products.

Kubota's hands-on approach is not only about having a customer-first philosophy. In addition to sales representatives, our engineering and manufacturing personnel sometimes visit the sites where our products are actually used to listen to the real voices of users and then work out solutions from users' perspectives. Also after delivery, they visit user sites to observe the operating conditions and discuss improvements or make new proposals.

This hands-on approach is the source of our strong problem-solving skills, which are Kubota's greatest strength.

Global network for staying close to customers,
to listen to their voices and deliver products in a timely manner

Our petrochemical industry users are located primarily in North America and the Middle East. Indeed, those markets support industries around the world. In order to obtain direct feedback from customers in those areas and to deliver our products there more rapidly, Kubota established production facilities in Canada and Saudi Arabia. As for the auto-industry market, we established a TXAX plant in the North America region (Canada), which is the product's major market, in order to be able to respond more promptly to customer requests. We have a global network designed to stay close to customers, which enables us to think from users' perspectives for the benefit of customers and to deliver products as rapidly as possible.

Vast experience and knowledgegained over some 130 years

The year 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of Hanshin Plant, one of our industrial materials development bases. But, in fact, we started developing industrial materials even farther back, with the company's foundation some 130 years ago. Kubota, established as a casting manufacturer, has supplied industrial materials to various markets in response to the needs of each industry.

During that process, we have amassed a wealth of knowledge about manufacturing, delivered our products to many customers, and steadily accumulated experience. Today, based on that vast knowledge and experience, we can formulate the best combinations of materials and technologies when customers come to us with new requests.

Materials development technologyto respond to uncharted market needs and unprecedented requirements

Raw materials constitute an important element for making shaped industrial material products. Having a profound knowledge of raw materials accumulated since our foundation as a casting manufacturer, Kubota can manufacture high-quality products using materials developed totally in-house to meet specific customer requests.

While we are particularly strong in metal materials, including heat-resistant alloys with industry-leading performance, we cover a wide range of materials, from wear-resistant types to non-metals. We can offer the best materials for your application.

Moreover, to respond to customers' inquiries for new applications, we can rely on our successful track records and many years of experience in the development and supply of industrial materials for major B-to-B markets. This is another strength that differentiates Kubota from the rest.

Process technologiesto continue to take on challenges beyond customer expectations

Having been a manufacturing company from the time of its foundation, Kubota has offered products for a wide variety of markets in response to society's needs. Every time we have ventured into an unexplored, uncharted market, many different challenges and problems have confronted us. How can we meet customer requirements and produce the developed product in a stable manner? Through repeated trial–and-error to determine optimal processes, Kubota has acquired its proprietary technologies and techniques.

For example, we were the first company in Japan to manufacture centrifugal steel castings. We were the first in the world to industrially produce centrifugally cast multilayer rolls. Ever since, we have continued to develop and refine process technologies centered on centrifugal casting; they include static casting and hot isostatic pressing technologies. Process technologies, which enable us to produce ideal industrial materials to meet customers' requests, constitute an important element for supporting our problem-solving capabilities.
