Kubota Corporation (Head Office: Naniwa-ku, Osaka; Chairman of the Board and President: Yasuo Masumoto; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") received the order of constructing Water supply system and WPP and STP from the prime contractor, PENTA-OCEAN CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. (Head office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo).

2. Background

The Thilawa SEZ occupies a wide area of approximately 2,400-hectares. Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Ltd (MJTD), consortium of Japanese and Myanmar's companies, plans to develop 400-hectares in advance until 2015.
As a result of the bid of selecting the prime contractor, Penta-Ocean Construction co., ltd. won it and decided to select Kubota's ductile iron pipes and its water treatment process for its energy saving.

3. Future prospect

The company expects that foreign firms including Japanese companies will invest in the Thilawa SEZ.
Kubota Group including Kubota Kasui Corporation's (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Satoshi Oketani) promotes solution technologies for industrial use such as water treatment facilities and exhausted gas treatment facilities. Through all its solutions, the company tries to pursue sustainable development of Myanmar.
In South East Asia, through providing Kubota's various solutions related to environmental business, the company keeps promoting Japanese infrastructure export.
