Kubota Myanmar Establishes a New Head Office and Distribution Center — Accelerating inroads into the local market by consolidating distribution sites and reinforcing the service system —

September 26, 2019

Kubota Corporation (Head Office: Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan; President and Representative Director: Masatoshi Kimata; hereinafter, “Kubota”) announced today that its agricultural machinery sales / services company in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Kubota Myanmar Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “KMCL”), will establish a new site in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone near Yangon, to consolidate its Head Office and distribution functions. In order to capture the brisk demand for farm machinery in Myanmar, which is expected to expand further, Kubota will expedite measures to strengthen its presence there by increasing efficiency of its supply chain and reinforcing its service system.

1. Background and the objective

  • Myanmar’s total population and rice production are nearly equivalent to the corresponding numbers in Thailand. Because most of the farm operations are currently done by humans and draft cattle, however, the country is expected to move quickly toward mechanized agriculture.
  • In 2011, SIAM Kubota Corporation Co., Ltd. of Thailand began selling farm machinery in Myanmar via local distributors. Then in 2016, Kubota established KMCL to start our direct operation in Myanmar.
  • By consolidating the KMCL Head Office and distribution functions, which were spread across three locations in the country, Kubota hopes to improve efficiency of its supply chain, while at the same time reinforcing its support for local dealers by expanding the service training center and establishing a venue for demonstrations.
  • With the establishment of the new Head Office and distribution center, Kubota will continue to contribute to the agricultural mechanization of Myanmar.
