Offering Online Courses for Agricultural Machinery Driving Skill Acquisition and Enhanced Agricultural Management Skills

To assist those having lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to support sustainable agricultural management, Kubota Group companies in Thailand offered online courses for learning agricultural skills and knowledge.

Impacted by COVID-19, unemployment in Thailand has skyrocketed and the nation’s unemployment rate, while significantly lower than in other countries, has reached its highest level in 12 years. To help the unemployed, Siam Kubota Corporation Co., Ltd. (SKC) has developed online KUBOTA Agri e-Learning courses in collaboration with the Department of Skill Development and partner companies. The majority of the 3,427 individuals taking these tuition-free courses from March through September 2021 were either unemployed or interested in agriculture.

KUBOTA Agri e-Learning offers an agricultural machinery driver training program, and a beginning farmer program that has been developed in collaboration with Chia Tai Company Limited, a company specializing in the cultivation of high-quality vegetables and fruits. The agricultural machinery driver training program consists of an introductory course and a professional driver training course, and those having completed the professional driver training course may begin working in agriculture as professional drivers with certification from the Department of Skill Development.

In addition, through the SKL Sponsorship program for farmers, Siam Kubota Leasing Co., Ltd. (SKL) provides free onsite training in business and team management skills as well as marketing knowledge and cost reduction knowhow which is useful in sustainable farm management. A total of ten farmers have participated in this program, which began in August 2020, and they are applying the knowledge and skills they gained in managing their agricultural businesses.

The Kubota Group will continue to support Thai farmers and promote initiatives leading to the sustainable development of agriculture.
